The flexible tool for machine vision applications: ibaVision offers a new plug-in concept

Version 3 of the image processing software opens up new possibilities using a Python extension.

With ibaVision, iba AG offers a powerful tool for the visual monitoring and analysis of processes. Seamlessly integrated into the iba system, information from image or video data can be automatically recorded as measurable values. In this way, measured data are generated for which there are no sensors or for which installation is uneconomical. These can then be analyzed and extracted together with the recorded process data of the iba system using the common iba tools. With version 3, ibaVision is extended by a plug-in concept: In addition to the previous interface to HALCON applications, a new Python plugin is now available for the use of additional extensions and libraries. Thus, for example, OpenCV or TensorFlow applications can be easily integrated into the iba system for process monitoring. In addition, users can create individual plugins independently in version 3 of ibaVision and therefore also cover special use cases. For an easier entry into this topic, two public repositories are made available in GitHub. The innovations introduced allow, for example, the connection of previously unsupported cameras and access to their internal memory to create a video stream with a customized timestamp. With the now available, open plug-in interface, ibaVision takes a big step towards a flexible image processing platform in the iba system.
